Planning and organizing transportation for the Olympics: an interview with Stefano Manelli, Head of Transport Milano Cortina 2026
“A logistical challenge that is certainly demanding, just think of the geographic area: the next Winter Games will take place over a very large territory where the workforce of Milano Cortina 2026, the staff of our suppliers and partners, plus 20,000 volunteers, will work together to organize the movements of 100,000 workers.” Mobility Magazine interviews Stefano Manelli, director of Citec Italia and transportation manager for the Fondazione Milano-Cortina 2026, about the challenges of the Foundation’s Transport Team for these games and his experience with major events, 20 years after the Turin Games in which he was already involved. Stefano Manelli and the Citec team are leading the Transport Plan for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympics, which are scheduled to begin on February 6 and March 6, 2026, respectively.
