The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 brought together sixteen teams in Switzerland for an unprecedented tournament held from 2 to 27 July. Citec, a long-standing partner of women’s football, led the mobility operations for the Geneva and Sion venues, ensuring accessibility and safety for the thousands of supporters who attended.

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, the fourteenth edition of this prestigious tournament, will take place from July 2 to 27 in Switzerland. This major event brings together sixteen teams across eight iconic venues, including Geneva, Sion, and Basel, which will host both the opening match (Switzerland vs. Norway) and the final. Over 700,000 tickets have been made available, with most matches already sold out, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for women’s football. The competition kicks off with exciting fixtures such as France vs. England and Spain vs. Portugal. Beyond the sporting stakes, EURO 2025 represents a unique opportunity to promote gender equality and strengthen the image of women’s sports in Europe. Switzerland is thus preparing to welcome thousands of fans in a festive and unifying atmosphere.
Citec, key player in event mobility
Commissioned in 2022 by the Swiss Football Association (ASF) to lead and deliver the mobility component of Switzerland’s bid for WEURO 2025, Citec designed the mobility concept for the national candidacy and subsequently translated it into concrete operational measures. Following UEFA’s confirmation of Switzerland as host, our experts contributed to the mobility planning for the Geneva and Sion venues, which hosted five and three matches respectively. As Host City Mobility Managers, Franco Tufo, founder and CEO of Citec, and Pierre Favre, Director of Citec Valais and Head of Mobility and Transport for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships Crans-Montana 2027, coordinated efforts with the cities, police forces, Swiss Federal Railways (CFF) and UEFA—from crowd-flow planning to the management of all onsite operational phases (transport hubs, parking, signage and wayfinding, mobility staff management, and more). Citec drew on its extensive experience from major international events (Ryder Cup 2018 and 2023, Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Milan-Cortina 2026, etc.) to ensure seamless access and fluid movement throughout the tournament. A historic partner of women’s football, Citec also supports Servette FC Chênois Féminin since 2017.
