Gilles Dufeigneux, General Manager of Formula 1 French Grand Prix and Franco Tufo, Citec Group CEO, unveiled on Thursday, February 14, the outline of the mobility plan to optimize the flow towards the Castellet Circuit from 20th to 23rd June 2019. With a creed, “Move from a traffic plan to a mobility plan” according to Gilles Dufeigneux, “We aim for a process of continuous improvement. Being a recurring event, 2019 will obviously be even better”. This plan is based on four essential pillars:

Reduced number of vehicles around the circuit

The first ambition is to drastically reduce the number of vehicles, rationalize or pool the means of transport to the Circuit. The implementation of 4,000 parking spaces, the carpooling with a dedicated access road, the prominence given to two-wheeled vehicles, the setting up of shuttles or taxis from airports and train stations, the increase of camp spots on site, are all measures that should help to overcome the pitfalls encountered during the last edition. “We have chosen to involve a group of spectators from 2018 to inform them of the work progress. The first meeting will take place on the weekend of March 2nd and 3rd” added Gilles Dufeigneux.

A new organization for parking areas

The second ambition aims to offer and better manage all the parking areas available to the general public. Indeed, smaller specific car parks will be offered to the general public to the three main directions (Beausset-Signes-Cuges les Pins). 1 parking zone = 1 route”, says Franco Tufo.

New road developments

The third axis is based, in particular, on the temporary optimization of the road infrastructure at the exit of the car parks towards major roads. This novelty should largely absorb the public exit of the Grand Prix.

Better public information

This fourth pillar is essential: in addition to a better signage from motorway exits, it will allow spectators to have a digital mobility plan on an application that will offer real-time solutions concludes Franco Tufo.
